ADaM: Introduction and Overview of Data Mining
ADaM was originally conceived for the analysis of imagery, such as satellite data. While many of the ADaM modules are general purpose, for any type of data, ADaM is primarily a collection of tools for data mining and image processing. Many of the modules are optimized to enable handling the very large datasets typically associated with Earth science domains.
This tutorial attempts to provide a high level introduction of data mining concepts. Following the introduction we offer examples of selected data mining operations. Where appropriate, we try to provide both a general purpose example as well as an Earth science example to help suggest possible uses of this technology to science domains.
